Autumn - The swirl of saffron skirts

There are more than a thousand leaves
dancing and swirling like the saffron skirts
of little girls.

Autumn is blowing about
beneath the old willow.
Her toes hardly touching the browning grass.

The west wind's breath
carries them high
lifting them over the fence
and away across the meadows.
