Bang! went the door
Thunk! went the lock
I fell to my knees
realizing
I had lost my keys.
I took hope down
off the washing line.
I have packed away faith
with the beach balls and bats.
Stand up,
turn around
open your eyes.
'Cos life always comes up
with just one more surprise.

Horizon
Out far on the horizon
hazy sky and grey seas
blur into a solid vastness
of veiled mystery
where all colour
like breath
has been drawn
out of the world.

of veiled mystery
where all colour
like breath
has been drawn
out of the world.

I awoke in the early hours
I awoke in the early hours
under an inky veil.
Floating among clouds
of cosmic dust.
My dreams,
like ribbons coming undone.
Listening to the scratchy pen
of the old Akashic scribe.
under an inky veil.
Floating among clouds
of cosmic dust.
My dreams,
like ribbons coming undone.
Listening to the scratchy pen
of the old Akashic scribe.

Change of pace
Too many ups and downs
toothache and frowns.
House sale,
behaviour
beyond the pail.
Packing
and stacking
books and pieces of life
and I am no longer
somebody's wife.
The future yawns
a wide Joker's grin
and I have no idea
of how, where or when.
I stand with my arms aloft
and beg the Universe,
'now what?'.

Autumn - The swirl of saffron skirts
There are more than a thousand leaves
dancing and swirling like the saffron skirts
of little girls.
Autumn is blowing about
beneath the old willow.
Her toes hardly touching the browning grass.
The west wind's breath
carries them high
lifting them over the fence
and away across the meadows.
dancing and swirling like the saffron skirts
of little girls.
Autumn is blowing about
beneath the old willow.
Her toes hardly touching the browning grass.
The west wind's breath
carries them high
lifting them over the fence
and away across the meadows.

Evening - One drop........
One drop
of coral coloured water paint
splashed across the horizon
and bled
into the evening sky.
A lonely zephyr
passed by the window sill
and I felt
the lick of a breeze
against my skin.
I heard the hum
of some vehicle
dying in the distance
until there was only the stillness
of the river
and the sound of the world
spinning
through the \universe.
of coral coloured water paintsplashed across the horizon
and bled
into the evening sky.
A lonely zephyr
passed by the window sill

against my skin.

The Dream
The dream
unzipped the night
and spilled the stars
into my eyes.
Early morning sunrise.
unzipped the night
and spilled the stars
into my eyes.
Early morning sunrise.

The Drain
Yesterday it rained
and the rain
ran down all the drains,
as water does,
and I heard the sewers singing.
I was standing at the corner
of the road - waiting
but at my feet there was music.
It went -
pirrop plip plop
prip prip
pl - ip prop
plip purrop
purrity purrity
pl - ip prip
plop.
and the rain
ran down all the drains,
as water does,
and I heard the sewers singing.
I was standing at the corner
of the road - waiting
but at my feet there was music.
It went -
pirrop plip plop

plop.
